LAKEVILLE SPEEDWAY'S FAN APPRECIATION
OPENER SET FOR FRIDAY, APRIL 20th WITH 6 DIVISIONS IN ACTION
Lakeville, Ohio - Monday, April 2, 2007 - By Mike Swanger - As peeks of warmer
weather start to show, interest in for the 2007 racing season also builds for
Lakeville Speedway with the traditional $5 general admission Fan Appreciation
night sponsored by Red Ferris Chevrolet of Wooster set for Friday, April 20th
featuring the Late Models, Pure Stocks, Mini Stocks, Mini Trucks, Cruisers, and
debuting the Fastrack Modifieds. These will be powered by crate motors and will
carry a $1,000 to win season championship money plus a three track championship
worth $6,000 to the winner. The motors will be a 602 or a 604 GM motor and can
be purchased through RMP Powertrain Solutions. For the 2007 season, regular
modifieds will be able to run with this class. All the rules for this class and
all divisions are available on Lakeville Speedway's website.
The biggest interest is going toward the Big 8 Series for the Super Late Models
and the Sprints that will have Lakeville Speedway hosting the Friday night
portions of the series and Wayne County Speedway hosting the Saturday night
action. Those week ends will be June 1st and 2nd, June 29th and 30th, August 3rd
and 4th and August 31st and September 1st for the Super Late Models. The dates
for the Sprints will be June 8th and 9th, July 13th and 14th, August 10th and
11th, and Sunday, September 2nd and Monday, September 3rd (Labor Day). Both of
these Series' will pay $2,000 to win each feature and $25,000 to any driver that
can win 4 features and $50,000 for five checkered flags.
In the regular Late Model class at Lakeville Speedway, Mike Lonas will be
looking to defend his title and chase after his fourth championship and add on
to his track high total of 53 feature wins. Paul McVicker will try to repeat his
championship run in the Pure Stocks. Zero Walter will have his work cut out for
him to repeat in the Mini Stocks. Winning a track high seven features last year,
Brandon Craver will be looking to dominate the Mini Trucks again. Missing the
first two weeks last year, Mike Finger edged into the Cruiser crown with 5 wins
down the stretch for his first title.
Practice night will be Wednesday, April 18th for all classes of cars beginning
at 6 p.m until dark as gates will open at 5 p.m. Pit pass will be $20. For more
