“Nightmare at the Creek” - Sugar Creek, in Blue Ridge, has a big
$2000 to win crate LM race, with Fastrak rules, Friday, with practice
starting at 7:00. They’ll have qualifying and features for crates and
limited LMs, and features for four local divs. Adm. $12. Directions: go
north on I-575, which becomes Hwy. 515, to just north of Elijay. Turn on
White Path Rd. just before McDonalds. Three pretty decent BBQ places

The O’Reilly Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series will run a $5000
to win 50-lapper Sat. at Lavonia Saturday, with hot laps starting after
the 7:00 drivers meeting. All of Lavonia’s regular divs. will also
race, with double points awarded. Lavonia is located at I-85 exit #177
(near the SC border), then 5.1 miles south on SR 77, and turn right at
the Shell station on SR 77 connector. www.lavoniaspeedway.com
Fan Appreciation Night at Toccoa Sat. means $10 admission, and they’re
promising Prizes galore. Plenty T-Shirts, CASH, and all kinds of stuff
will be given away. Plenty of Stuffed animals for the Kids. Also on tap
for Saturday will be an action filled night of Racing, featuring the
Limited Latemodels / Crate Latemodels / Street-Hobby / Enduro / Street
Stock 4Cyl. / Young Guns 4Cyl. / and the front wheel drive Bombers.
Directions: I-85 north to exit 173 (near the SC border), and go north on
Hwy. 17 11.9 miles., and then take Hwy. 17 Alt. north a half mile.
Next week: Toccoa Speedway will host the largest Monster truck Show in
North Georgia History. Five Monster trucks will compete on April 21! The
trucks, which are a fan favorite, will do everything from racing in the
infield to crushing cars.

Savannah, with four divs. racing: Boo-Koo Late Models, Love's Seafood
Street Stocks, Southern Racing Supplies Pure Stocks, Four Star Security
440's, and Red Diamond Homes Mini Stocks. Tickets are $12.

Brian Duke at West Georgia in Whitesburg has regular shows planned
for every Sat., with some championships planned next month.
It wasn’t warm at Waycross Motor Speedway last Sat., but the
National Late Model Series still had a full show. Fast qualifier was
Brandon DeWitt at his home track, and he finished second to Mike Carter.
Following them were Dusty Cone, Terry Lumley, Mark Whitener, Scott
Johnson, Alex Vickers, Bo Allen, Tyler Ivey, Russell Brown Jr., Brad
Comer, Phillip Cobb, Clay Bedenbaugh, Travis Grant, Skip Pannell, Lonnie
Roberts, Rhett Carter, Bo Johns, John Henderson, Jr., Johnny Collins,
Keith Tuten, Jay Johnson, Cary Corbin and Dillon Wood.
The series moves to East Bay Raceway near Tampa April 20-21 for a $5000
to win. $500 to start show, and to New Gordon Park near Augusta May 5.
The East Bay race, the Scott Thompson Memorial Race, honors the son of
car owner Bill Thompson. Scott Thompson was the 2005 Volusia Speedway LM
champion, and was running for 2006 NLMS Rookie of the Year when he died
in a traffic accident near Tampa. He drove car No. 38, and the race will
be 38 laps.
North Georgia Speedway postponed their OSAS show last week due to the
cold, but they’ll be running Super LMs and Limited LMs this Sat.
Rodney Martin, of Cartersville, and and multi-time track champion Gary
McPherson, of Dalton, are off and running, winning the first two SLM
division features of the season. Rick Hixson has won both Limited

The Advance Auto Parts Thunder Series is at Cleveland Sat. for the
$3,000 to win Lamar Lowery 45, dedicated to the memory of long-time Late
Model racer and Cleveland Speedway regular Lamar Lowery. His now famous
#45 race car will live on in the memories of many fans who knew and
cheered for him and his son Jake Lowery, who no longer drives race cars.
Ray Cook won the Fastrak “Alabama Chiller” Sat. night at Green
Valley, after starting second behind Chip Brindel of Chatsworth. Fastrak
is at Lancaster, SC, this Sat. This may have been Cook’s first crate
motor race and/or win. www.fastrakracing.com
Screven Motor Speedway will open May 12, with practice on the
upgraded track and a BBQ banquet and shrimp boil at 5:00 for $15. They
also have an updated concrete dragstrip. Racing starts Fri., May 18,
with vintage motorcycles. The Florida 360 winged sprint series and all
local divs. race Sat., May 19.
Screven has a big dirt LM show scheduled Sat., May 26, with the Southern
All Stars going for $5000 to win, and the new Southeastern Limited Late
Model Series going for $2000 to win.
Young Taylor Satterfield, of Commerce, won his first Georgia Asphalt
Series Pro Late Model race, leading the final 65 laps at the freshly
re-paved track at South Alabama Speedway in Opp, AL. He was also fast
qualifier, over Greg Motes, last week’s winner at Watermelon Capital
Speedway Korey Ruble, and Series points leader Russell Fleeman. Fleeman
started first, after the invert.
