Don O'Neal Readies for 2006 Season with New Race Team

Martinsville, IN - January 25, 2006 - Don O'Neal of Martinsville, IN has announced that he has joined the Randall Eller racing team based out of North Carolina for the 2006 racing season. O'Neal the winningest dirt late model driver since the beginning of the 2002 racing season with 88 wins is coming off of a season where he fell just short of winning the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series finishing second to Earl Pearson, Jr. in the final tally, but still managed to lead the series in wins with seven. O'Neal has announced his intentions to finish the deal in '06 as he will again compete for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Points Championship.

O'Neal's new teammate, Damon Eller of Crumpler, NC will also be running full time with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and will compete for the "Rookie of the Year" title.

Also announcement is that veteran crew chief Danny Myers will oversee both race teams in '06. Myers has a wealth of knowledge, talent and wins to his credit and in '05 he helped the Eller team get their feet wet in the ultra competitive world of dirt late model racing.

O'Neal will compete in cars from MasterSbilt Race Cars in Crothersville, IN powered by Jay Dickens Racing Engines out of Mississippi. Eller will have two chassis manufacturers to choose from in Rayburn and Warrior. O'Neal will be the driver only for the team with the responsibilities of car ownership ending for now. "It's a nice relief to head into the new season, just concentrating on driving the car," said the 41 year old veteran racer. "With all that goes on with ownership, driving, working on the cars, paying the bills, it's going to hopefully get us more wins this year and our equipment should be kept up better in the long haul of a points chase."

O'Neal will bring with him to the team two of his sponsors that joined him towards the end of the '05 season, Hancock Core and Jones Core both based out of Edinburgh, IN will go on the Independence Lumber sponsored cars

Since the start of the 2000 racing season O'Neal has recorded an incredible 118 wins and even more amazing is that during the time span from '00-'05 he has 274 top five finishes. His first major career win came in 1992 winning the "Kenny Simpson Memorial" at his home track, Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, IN. O'Neal has two track titles at Brownstown (92 and 99) to go along with 41 career wins at what most considered the toughest weekly track in the country for several years. O'Neal has also captured four ”Hoosier Dirt Classic" titles at Brownstown to go along with two "Jackson 100" wins the tracks most prestigious event held each August. O'Neal was the 2004 UMP Summernationals Champion and has 31 career Summernationals wins putting him third all time behind Billy Moyer and Shannon Babb. O'Neal is the all time winningest driver in the Northern Allstars Late Model Series with 28 victories. His biggest career win came in 2003 when he captured the $55,000 to win "Dixie Shootout" at Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, GA.

O'Neal's career has also included wins in the "Ralph Latham Memorial" and "Spring 50" both held at Florence Speedway in Union, KY. O'Neal also has a trophy from winning the "Kentucky Klassic" in 1995 at Barren County Speedway in Glasgow, KY, along with wins in the 2003 "Prairie Dirt Classic" at Fairbury, IL, the 2003 "USA World 50" at Paducah International Raceway in Paducah, KY, the 2001, '03 and '04 "Spring Sizzler" at Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, KY and last year captured the '05 Night 1 of the "Masters" at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, WI.
