Jimmy Mars Sweeps 'BestChoiceProperties.com Las Vegas Dirt Classic'! (MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) March 13, 2007 - With the bright lights of Las Vegas, Nevada serving as a majestic backdrop, Jimmy Mars was at the top of his game in a pair of Western Allstars Series events at the Dirt Track at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on March 8-9. Jimmy, who was aboard a MasterSbilt from Mars car owned by Wyoming’s Jess Anderson, won both $3,000 to win feature events at the state-of-the-art facility last week. The Menomonie, Wisconsin native had some prior seat time in the car, as he also piloted it at the Central Arizona Raceway during the ‘Wild West Shootout’ back in mid-January. On Thursday, March 8, Jimmy won his heat race to earn the sixth starting
spot for the 30-lap A-Main. The driver known as the “Iceman” methodically
worked his way towards the front and passed race leader Kelly Boen on lap
seventeen for the lead. Jimmy was then able to hold off Boen, Josh Richards,
Mike Johnson, and Justin Dittman to record his first victory of the early 2007
racing season. Another $3,000 to win feature event was held at LVMS on Friday
evening, but the result was much the same. Jimmy notched another heat race
victory before winning the $1,000 dash, which gave him the coveted pole
position for the 30-lap A-Main. The former ‘Dream 100’ and ‘Topless 100’
winner led flag-to-flag and registered his second feature win in a row ahead
of Kelly Boen, Billy Moyer, Ken Schrader, and Ed Kosiski. “It was definitely a good time out in Vegas last weekend,” commented Mars in a telephone conversation earlier today. “Anytime you go out to Las Vegas, it is a good time, but winning two shows makes it even better! The car that Jess Anderson supplied me with worked flawlessly both nights and I have to give a lot of credit to him and his crew. Hopefully, we can parlay these wins into some strong runs down south in a couple of weeks when I race my own equipment in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama.” The Mars Racing team will take the March 16-17 weekend off from Dirt Late Model competition, but will be ultra-busy the following weekend. Jimmy plans to enter a trio of 360 OTC World of Outlaws Late Model Series shows at the Baton Rouge (LA) Raceway, the Columbus (MS) Speedway, and the North Alabama Speedway from March 23-25. Jimmy comes into the tripleheader World of Outlaws weekend eighth in the series point standings. Although he is not committing to run the full circuit with the Outlaws at this time, Jimmy does plan to enter all of their events through the month of April.
