ERIC CORBETT BRINGS HOME HIS FIRST USAR HOOTERS PROCUP VICTORY
When asked if he was coming in to pit, Corbett replied, “For What?”

HAGERSTOWN, MD - 5/3 - USAR Hooters ProCup driver Eric Corbett won his first ProCup race at Mansfield Motorsports Speedway, Mansfield, OH. It was the first time the USAR Hooters ProCup series raced at Mansfield Motorsports Speedway, and the first time Corbett sat in the USAR winner’s circle.

Corbett, driver of the Clean & Shine, LSI Ford Taurus started on the outside pole. Qualifying for the Simonson Builders and Simonson Excavation 250 presented by Bullet Motorsports was cancelled due to rain and the 34-car field lined up by their season point position. Due to rain, the green flag didn't wave until 7:30. Brian Ross sat on the pole and Corbett was on the outside position.

During the evening, the race fell under caution 8 different times. Corbett pitted on lap 108 and took fuel and two right tires. When asked during a later caution if he was coming in again, Corbett replied, “For What?” The young Corbett knew he was on his way to victory lane. “The car just felt right”, said Corbett. “I knew if I had enough fuel, I stood a chance at winning.” On lap 212 Corbett had the near 7000 crowd standing on their feet as he went three wide down the front stretch to take the lead from current points leader, Brian Ross. “Now that’s short track racing”, one fan yelled.

At lap 229 another caution bunched the field. The crowd again stood on their feet to see the battle between the current points leader and Corbett for the win. Corbett was able to hold off Ross and then pulled away several car lengths to take the checkered. “The car was just working”, said Corbett. “We had a good pit stop and the crew just had it all together.”

Friday was the first Corbett and his crew had seen the track. “It is a very nice facility, said Corbett. In fact, it is now my favorite track,” he said with a grin. Following Corbett across the line was Ross, Agnew, Kauffman, and Urban to round out the top five.

Speed Channel will air the Mansfield Motorsports race this Thursday, May 8th at 7PM.

To date, Corbett is one of three different drivers to win Northern Division races this season. He is the only driver in the North to have 3 top five finishes. His average finish is 2.67. He has completed 100% of laps.

Corbett is second to Ross in dollars won this season. Corbett has led 47 laps total this season, with the most important lap lead being this past Saturday evening. Corbett looks forward to his next scheduled race, which is at the Holland International Speedway in Holland, NY.
